In true Spring fashion, love is in the air.  The couples shower-open house for Chris Jorgenson and Lindsay Chmilar, held on Saturday at the NB hall was a huge success.  It was wonderful to meet members of Lindsay’s family and to see family and friends out for the occasion.  It was a great evening!

Congratulations to Ashton Robertson and Rachele Pederzolli who were married at the Pederzolli Ranch just outside of Medicine Hat on Saturday, June 16.  Local attendees of the wedding were grandparents, Linda and Lawrence Wilson and friends, Sheldon and Lucille Hertz.  The Hertz’s met up and visited with Nelson Hertz and Jana Brausen from Red Deer as Nelson was the best man for the wedding.

Huge congratulations to Dillion Heatherington of Calgary, son of Wes and Cindy Heatherington, and grandson of Carole and Gordon Heatherington.  Dillion is one of thirteen WHL hockey players to have been selected for the Canadian National Mens Under 18 camp – how exciting!

It is a busy week ahead for our community. Tuesday is swimming at the Oyen pool for the gr. 1-6 students.  Tuesday  evening our community clean-up and BBQ will kick off at 5:00pm.  Please bring mowers, and a salad or dessert.  Kids games are planned for 6:00pm.  Following the picnic the History Book Committee will begin their meeting around 7:30pm – everyone welcome.  The Heritage Day fundraiser is at the top of the discussion list.  If you are interested in adding a name(s) to the talent show roster, please call Johnny Hagens 403-664-2349 | Marvel Jorgenson 403-664-2469 | Sarah Hagens 403-664-2006.  The NB Facebook page has full event details and will be linked to an event page after the meeting.  The newbrigden.ca website now has an announcement scroller in the sidebar, so please check this out for upcoming events and notices.  As well, you can find and follow our FB link there too.  A friendly reminder to add “submit my family history” to your to do lists this summer!

The last day of classes will be Thursday, June 28.  Please come out and join our staff, students and community as we say farewell and best of luck to Jack Shields, Joan Pennett and Lorie Herron as they will be moving on to new things.  The Farewell BBQ will begin around 11:30am following the Tabloid.

Saturday, July 15 is slated for a 70th birthdays bash at the NB Hall.  The community club will be looking after the bar, so bar tenders are needed for shifts throughout the evening.  If you are able to lend a hand, please call Lucille 403-664-2431.
